Seane Corn has been a social activist and yogi for more than three decades, and, as much benefit as she has brought through her work, she has also made mistakes and caused some pain and trauma — for herself and others.
From this experience, she has an important message for those who become inspired to help the world — especially those who are involved in contemplative disciplines such as yoga.
If you have the aspiration to be genuinely helpful, I encourage you to pause and have a look at the video below, which was filmed at last year’s Wisdom in Action conference at SMC.

Incredible insights. I’ve only felt these separations and have never been able to define what it was that diminished my ability to truly participate in service the way I thought I should. Turns out I knew all along that my inability to ignore my cultural view, innate prejudices and instinctive sense that I was not able be a part of something I thought needed to be “better” was good old honesty and common sense. I’ve been lucky to have had conversations with people who have consistently pointed out these blocks that I come to the table with. I just didn’t understand it and what it meant until I saw this video. Thank you !!!
Yes, I love what you say here. Thank you. Makes complete sense and so important to be aware of.
